Pirelli P-Zero Tyres
- The Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrico is a high-performance, low-profile tyre from 1986.
- The Asimmetrico or Asymmetric tread pattern of these P-Zero tyres ensures fantastic grip in a straight line, and the corners come wet or dry.
- In 1987, the Ferrari F40 became the first mass-produced car to fit the P-Zero as original equipment.
- The Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrico were fitted to the Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary model and the Ferrari F40.
- For some cars, Pirelli offered the P-ZERO system, which matched a directional P-ZERO Direzionale front tyre with the P-ZERO Assimetrico on the rear.

Pirelli P-Zero Classic Tyres
Throughout the 1980s, the rise of turbocharging and supercharging in sports cars pushed horsepower to historic highs, ushering in entirely new levels of performance. This surge in power called for a new era of tyre design. Enter the PIRELLI P-Zero. The Pirelli P-Zero was first introduced in 1985 for the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale. It was the first true example of an Ultra High-Performance (UHP) tyre.
The name connects Pirelli’s classic tyre heritage (Pirelli's classic 'P' range includes the P600, P4000, and notably the P5 Jaguar tyre and P7 low profile performance tyre) with the next generation in tyre innovation, ('Zero' representing the start of a new era).
P Zero Classic Car Tyres
The P Zero was used by a wide range of high-performance classic cars such as the Ferrari F40, Testarossa, Ferrari 512TR, Lamborghini Countach, Diablo, Porsche 911, and Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
Since its inception, the P-Zero has been adapted into more than 3000 versions, homologated for a huge number of different classic and modern cars.

P-ZERO Design - Racing Origins
The P-Zero has benefitted from Pirelli’s rally and racing experience. Insights from Pirelli's competition tyres have been adapted for road use in the P-Zero. This allows the P-Zero to deliver strong performance under tough real-world conditions, with the assurance that the tyre has already been tested by the fastest cars under the hardest conditions. As with the P-Zero's predecessor, the P7, knowledge gained in racing and rallying has been applied to road tyres, pushing the boundaries of performance.
The P Zero features an advanced tread pattern, incorporating various racing-tyre elements to improve performance:
- Inner shoulder grooves: adapted from wet-weather racing tyres for grip in wet conditions.
- Outer shoulder: influenced by slick racing tyres, improving traction and cornering on dry surfaces.
- Central section: includes features from intermediate racing tyres to balance wet and dry performance.
The P-Zero features a dual ply rayon carcass with Kevlar reinforcements. The advanced carcass and tread pattern enhances handling and safety in varied road conditions, ensuring the car maintains grip no matter the situation.
P-Zero Modern Classic Tyres
The P Zero range celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2025, spanning 4 distinct generations of since its inception. Modern P Zero variants maintain a leading position in the performance tyre market as they continue to meet evolving automotive demands for both modern and classic cars.
