Pirelli P-Zero System
The Pirelli P-Zero was developed in 1986. The range of P-Zero tyres have up to date compounds developed at the race track and a complicated carcass structure involving many components including Kevlar reinforcements. This 225/50 YR 16 Pirelli P-Zero tyre is directional, it is designed as a front tyre to be complimented by fitting the asymmetric 255/50 YR 16 P-Zero Assimetrico on the rear. The 2 tread designs are developed to do different jobs.
225/50YR16 Tyres
These tyres are predominantly designed to be fitted on the front of Ferrari Testrossa, Ferrari 288 GTO, Ferrari 512 TR & Ferrari 512 M, complimented with the 255/50 YR 16 P-Zero on the rear.
Though there are a variety of other cars out there that might fit the tyre size 225/50YR16, cars such as Porsche 928 and Porsche 944, this 225/50YR16 Pirelli P-Zero is designed as a front tyre, to be matched up with the P-Zero on the rear. So if they are to be fitted front and rear you would be better off with 225/50 YR 16 Pirelli P7. For many of the Porsche applications it is worth noting that there is also the 205/55R16 Pirelli P7 & 245/45R16 Pirelli P7 that these tyres can be paired up with.

We would recommend that the best set up for a 512TR Ferrari would be 225/50YR16 Pirelli P-Zero on the front and 255/50 YR 16 Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrico on the rear. This would also be the best set up for the Ferrari 512M as well and the Ferrari Testarossa fitted with 16” wheels.
What is the best tyre in the size 225/50YR16?
Pirelli make the 225/50YR16 P-Zero, which is an epic tyre, but is at it’s best when matched up with the P-Zero Asimmetrico tyres on the rear. If you wanted them front and rear you would probably opt for the Pirelli P7.
