710 X 90 Beaded-Edge Tyres
For smallish veteran, Edwardian, and early vintage cars 710X90 is a relatively common beaded edge tyre. Of the 710 X 90 beaded-edge tyres in production currently, Longstone Tyres are big advocates of the Ensign brand, it looks fantastic with the old Dunlop Chevron Cord tread pattern. However most importantly with a beaded-edge tyre, we are happy that the carcass is well-built and strong which is why they are fitted to the family Frazer Nash Super Sport.
710 X 90 beaded-edge tyres were common right into the early 1920s where they were fitted to cars like Bugatti Type 13 and even the early Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix cars, Frazer Nash, Bullnose Morris and Humber, etc. for all these cars we would recommend the 710 X 90 Ensign as the strongest and most reliable beaded-edge tyre in that size. The fact they also look so good is a bonus.

Beaded-Edge Tyres
What we need to remember about beaded-edge tyres is that from about 1924, (along with rear wheel brakes only) the majority of car manufacturers started to move away from Beaded edge tyres. This is because of the influx of Tarmacadam roads. Moving away from the less grippy loose surfaces roads dramatically increased the side forces on a tyre tending to pull them off the rim. A beaded-edge tyre does not benefit from having wire in the bead of the tyre stopping the inner circumference from expanding to larger than that of the rim.

All these things considered, we do want to continue to use 710 X 90 beaded-edge tyres on roads today, in which case the carcass structure of this Ensign 710 X 90 Chevron Cord is very much important. However we must give it the best chance we can, therefore we must be vigilant and make sure the tyre pressure does not go below 60psi (4 BAR).
Inner Tubes for 710 X 90 Beaded-edge Tyres
We strongly recommend the Central Valve H/D Michelin Inner Tube 710X90 as by far the best innertube for a 710 X 90 tyre of any make. The Michelin tubes for beaded-edge tyres are exceptionally reinforced with the perfect period brass Schrader valve.
The Overall Diameter of the 7.10 x 90 Ensign Chevron Cord is 695 mm and the width is 95 mm.
