In 1974 Pirelli developed their new ultra low profile P7 tyres Porsche soon took advantage by fitting 205/50 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 to the front of the Porsche 930 and these 225/50 VR 15 to the rear. When Lamborghini moved the Countach on to the 5000 QV model they increased the front tyre size to fit 225/50 VR 15 on the front and on the rear 345/35 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7.

This Pirelli 225/50 R 15 P7 is part of the excellent Pirelli P7 range which does offer some excellent high performance low profile classic radial tyres, as well as the tyres listed above Pirelli also make a 285/40 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 which fills a gap and makes for an all encompassing brand where really the only other options for tyre of these widths for 15” rims are race tyres like the Michelin TB range and the Pirelli P7 Corsa Classic tyres.

PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 Tyres
The Porsche 911 S/T was manufactured between 1970 and 1971, and was designed mainly for use in racing. The S/T was based on the 911 S, but with better engine options, upgraded suspension, and a great deal of weight removed.
One popular S/T setup we have seen has 8" front wheels and 225/50 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 tyres, with 9" rear wheels and 285/40 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 tyres, as seen in the pictures above.
Some 911 owners convert their cars by adding larger wheels and sportier tyres. This setup makes the 911 resemble a racing spec model like the S/T, with PIRELLI P7 classic tyres that also have their origins in racing. The P7 was first used as a Lancia Stratos rally tyre before adaption to commercial road use.
