Austin 7 Ruby tyre
The 400/425X17, 400 X 17 or 425 x 17 Longstone Tyre have been designed very much with the Austin 7 (seven) Ruby in mind. The Austin 7 Ruby fitted a tyre in the size 400x17. Today because there are no tyres of the size 425X17 being made Longstone have made a dual marked tyre called 400/42X17. The new Longstone 400 - 17 Austin seven Ruby tyres has a tread pattern designed to look very similar to the tyres that the Ruby left the factory with.
Fiat Balilla tyres
The Fiat Balilla left the factory fitted with a 400X17 tyre so Longstone Tyres have produced a tyre of the size 400/425-17 which is excellent tyre for the Fiat Balilla. The 400/425X17 has a period tread pattern and a well built tyre carcase which is excellent for cars of the 30's.
400x17 tyres
At present there isn't a 400x17 (400-17) tyre available. These days with unusual sizes such as 400 X 17 and 425X17 there is not enough demand to manufacture 2 tyres so we tend to produce a 400/425X17 tyre that is suitable for both the 400x17 and 425x17 application.
This picture shows Mrs T. M. Hill in the scrutinising bay in Leamington Spa where she went on to win a 3rd class award in the 1935 RAC rally. What is also relevant to us is that she has the same tread pattern on her tyres as current 400/425X17 Longstone Tyre that we make for the Austin 7 Ruby and Pearl
