205 R 15 Tyres
A 205 R 15 tyre could also be called a 205/80 R 15, because it is an early full profile classic tyre where the side wall height is 80% of its 205mm width. A 205/80 R 15 tyre is the radial alternative to a 815-15 crossply tyre, which is not currently produced as a performance tyre that we would happily recommend fitting to the powerful cars that fitted this size tyre in Europe. They were initially fitted to early Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, Series 2 Aston Martin DB6 and the early 6 cylinder Aston Marin DBS. It is worth noting that bot these Aston Martin tyres also fitted this Pirelli 205 R 15 Cinturato CN72.
Aston Martin fitted the 205 R 15 Pirelli because at the time it was the biggest highest specification tyre that came out in 1964 and was proptly adopted by the likes of Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini who pretty much fitted it to all their classic Supercars between 1964 and about 1970.
205 R 15 Innertubes for Classic Cars
Any 205/80 R 15 tyre can fit innertubes. The Pirelli however can also be run without innertubes if the wheel on your classic car is suitable to being run tubeless. However any wire wheel should be fitted with inner tubes, and many 205 R 15 Pirelli CN72 tyres were fitted onto Borrani wire wheels as that is what the likes of Ferrari and Maserati fitted in the 1960s.
We would suggest if you need inner tubes for any 205/80 R 15 tyres including the Pirelli 205 R 15 Cinturato CN72 we suggest that the 15/17 H13 Michelin Innertube is the best.
