Ford Model T

Model T Ford Tyres

Ford Model T tyres for a standard car as recommended by Longstone Tyres.

We have a special offer on sets of 4 Wards Riverside 30X3 1/2 beaded edge Model T Ford tyres. This is and extremely good price well worth taking advantage of.

It is probably worth considering that Fords Model T fitted all white tyres up until 1914. Because up until Wards Riversides involvement with Tin Lizzie tyres, all white tyres have been inconsistent an outstandingly expensive. Currently the price of the Wards Riverside 30X3½ All White and 30X3 All White are exceptionally good and money is no longer so restrictive. It could be that these early Model T's could be driving around with some all white tyres with dirt from the road looking the way they did 100 years ago.

30x3 Model T Ford tyres

Some Model T Fords fit the 30x3 tyre to the front of the car. For which we recommend the Wards Riverside.

30x3½ Model T Ford

We recommend the 30x3½ Wards Riverside as the best tyre for the Ford Model T as it is a very period tyre that was extremely common throughout America because it was produced by the Montgomery Ward's Catalogue which was the first mail order catalogue company and as a result this allowed rural Americans easy access to these Model T Ford tyres.

Newly in at Longstone, we can now also fit the 30x3 1/2 Wards Riverside All White Tyre. These tyres are extremely suitable for the period and are very good value.

21" Model T Ford Tyres

Later Model T Fords fitted 21" wheels with the modern, well based wheel technology we use for fitting tyres today. Some later Model T Fords even fitted wire wheels with the 440x21 tyres that were fitted to the first Model A Fords. These days a lot of tyres are marked 440/45x21. There are also tyres in the size 450/475x21, however the Model T fitted 440x21. Longstone Classic Tyres have tyres available in this size. The Firestone is very good and Lucas is extremely good value.

History of the Ford Model T

The Ford Model T is a car that was produced by Henry Ford's Ford Motor Company from 1908 until 1927 when it was superceded by the Ford Model A.

The Model T Ford is generally regarded as the first affordable car, the car that opened travel to the common middle-class American, some of this was because of Ford's innovations, including assembly line mass production as opposed to individual hand crafting. The first production Model T Ford was produced on August 12, 1908 and left the Piquette Plant factory in Detroit, Michigan on September 27, 1908.

On May 26, 1927, Henry Ford watched the 15 millionth Model T Ford roll off the assembly line at his factory in Highland Park, Michigan. The Ford Model T was the first automobile mass produced on assembly lines with completely interchangeable parts, marketed to the middle class.

Some say it was only available in black........
