E-type Jaguar tyres
The first E-type Jaguars fitted 640H15 Dunlop RS5. In 1965 Jaguar offered 185HR15 Dunlop SP Sport Aquajet tyres. However Longstone Classic Tyres would recommend fitting the 185Vr15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ or 185Vr15 Michelin XVS. We believe these are the best tyres in this size.
205/70R15
The Series 3 E-type Jaguar fitted the fancy new technology low profile ER/70VR15 Dunlop SP Sport Aquajet. Though the low profile ER/70VR15 technology didn't came out in 1968, Jaguar didn't fit it to the E-type because through testing they were aware it would spoil the handling of the car. However the Series 3 E-type came out with power steering to overcome the derogatory effects of fitting wider tyres.
205/70X15
Often people with e-type Jaguars like the look of the fuller wheel arches that fitting a ER/70VR15 (or 205/70VR15) tyres gives. Under these circumstances the best tyre for the Job would be a 205/70VR15 Michelin XWX.
Some people think that an e-type Jaguar looks good with a white wall tyre. They are wrong. However we can supply the 205/70SR15 Hercules white band tyre. This is a tyre fitted by a lot of car dealers because the price is low. The speed rating is not really suited to an E-type Jaguar, but we have to accept we are in business to make a living so here they are.
XJ6 Tyres
The Jaguar XJ6 was the first production car to fit the new low profile tyre technology in the size ER/70VR15 (which is the same as a 205/70VR15).
The tyre we have here is a 205/70SR15 Hercules. With a thin white band on one side. This white band can be fitted facing inboard so you can see it and your car wouldn't be made to look vulgar by having a white band on its tyres. this 205/70SR15 Hercules tyre has a speed rating that is not really suited to an XJ6 however at present it is the lowest price tyre in that size.
The Overall Diameter of the 205/70 SR 15 Hercules Whitewall is 685 mm, the width is 204 mm and size of the Whithewall is 19 mm.

Maintaining White Wall or White Letter Tyres
Whitewall or raised white letters tyres will need continual maintenance; they are not a fit and forget item. You will need to keep the tyres clean, usually just with hot soapy water.
NEVER USE tyre shine products on Whitewall or RWL letters, many of these products have enhancers for black tyres that will discolour the white rubber permanently.
