This MGB has 165R14 Michelin XAS fitted onto some fabulous Borrani wheels.
In 1965 Michelin developed the XAS Asymmetric tyre. Michelin make an 165R14 XAS which is an excellent tyre. Michelins XAS tyres were developed to improve the directional stability of cars in the 60's and 70's.
165R14
The tyre size 165R14 would fit Alfa Romeo Giulia, Alfetta, BMW 1800, BMW 2000, Lancia Fulvia, Nissan Fairlady, Audi 100, Austin Cambridge, Austin A60 Countryman, Citroen GS, Morris Oxford, Peugeot 504, Porsche 924, Riley 4/68, Riley 4/72, Rover P6 and Wolseley 16/60. The handling of The Michelin 165R14 XAS tyres is excellent.
165R14 Tyres
165R14 was quite a popular size tyre, but also there were many cars of the 60s that would have originally fitted a crossply tyre 590X14 of 560X14 but would have chosen to fit a 165R14 radial alternative to improve a cars handling, and out of the tyres available, fitting a 165R14 Michelin XAS would dramatically improve the way a car drove.
165R14 Innertubes
The current production of 165R14 Michelin XAS are Tube Type tyres. Meaning they must be fitted with an innertube. We would suggest the best inner tube for any full profile 16%R14 tyre is the Michelin 14D 13 innertube.

Hi guys,
I recently bought a set of Michelin XAS 165R14 from you along with new inner tubes. These were to replace the totally original set of Michelin’s (date stamped 1979) found on a 13,000 mile only! 1980 MGB LE recently unearthed – the car is totally original and was garaged/unused from 1986.
I ran it around on the 40 year old original tyres for a few months whilst re-commissioning the car, and recently replaced the tyres. Whilst far from perfect and somewhat flat-spotted, the old ones looked in fairly good nick, but the transformation in ride and handling with the new ones is a revelation.
The car now drives like a new car (albeit a new car from 1981!)

Vintage Michelins are the best, and TOTALLY faithful to the ones from “back in the day”. So excited we can still get them!

Its the correct tyre for my classic car. I think it is of average quality for a crossply tyre.

Sorry, this is not the product I ordered. I ordered Michelin XAS'. Very pleased and familiar with this tire. Just what I was looking for as I bring may Alfa *** *** back to original form.
