Morris 6 MS Tyres

Morris 6 Series MS

Morris 6 MS 1948–1953

  • The Morris 6 MS originally fitted 600 - 15 crossply tyres. There isn't currently an appropriate crossply in this size, we suggest switching to radial tyres.
  • The closest radial equivalent sizes are 165 R15 or 180 R15, which are slightly shorter and taller than the 600 - 15 size respectively, either size will fit.
  • The ideas Morris 6 MS tyre in each size is the 165 HR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 and the 180 HR 15 Michelin XAS.
  • 165R15 tyres will provide lighter steering at lower speeds, and 180R15 tyres will be more comfortable for motorway cruising, however, both sizes will work great on the Morris 6.
  • The Morris 6 fitted tube-type wheels throughout its production run, making innertubes a necessity for the Morris 6 MS. For these tyres the Michelin 15E is the ideal innertube.

History of the Morris 6 MS

The Morris 6 MS was built between 1948 and 1953, sharing mostly the same body shell as the Morris Oxford but having an extended bonnet to fit a larger 6-cylinder engine, as well as a larger wheelbase of 110 inches. It was Morris's first six-cylinder automobile after the war. All of the new cars were of integrated chassis and body design, having independent front suspension with torsion bars. In the UK market, the automobile was initially priced at £607, but this was increased to £671 on March 1, 1949.

An automobile put through its paces by a British publication 'The Motor' in 1950 had a maximum speed of 82.5 mph and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 22.4 seconds. Fuel usage was measured at 20 miles per imperial gallon. The test vehicle cost £671 incl. taxes.
