Ferrari 206 GT Dino 1967–1969

  • For Ferrari 206 GT Dino tyres though it is not the correct speed rating or the original tread, the 185 HR 14 Michelin MXV-P is the best tyre to fit.
  • Alternatively Longstone Tyres suggests the 205/70VR14 Michelin XWX.
  • Our period Innertube Guides states that the 206 GT DIno was suitable for tubeless tyres.
  • If you decide to fit tubes, the Michelin 14F innertube is the best suited.

The History of the Ferrari 206 GT Dino

The commercial Dino 206 GT was developed by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina, the man responsible for many of Ferrari's iconic designs, and manufactured by Scaglietti. It had the soft edges and beautiful flowing lines that were distinctive of early Ferrari's, as a contrast to its much more angular successor, the 308 GT4, which had the straighter lines and sharper edges that were most evident in Gandini's following Fiat X1/9.

During the same time period, the Fiat Dino Coupe and Spider had the same 2 Litre, 1,986.60 cc engine as the 206 GT Dino. Aurelio Lampredi, a designer Ferrari owed many of its great engines to, was charged with the adaptation of the Dino 206 SP/S twin-cam racing engine for road-going duty in the Dino (and the two Fiat editions). The 2.4L engine was also used in subsequent Fiat Dinos, albeit many fewer of them were manufactured with it.
