Alvis TA 21 Advert

Alvis TA21 Tyres

  • The Alvis TA21 originally came equipped with crossply 600 - 15 tyres, however, there are no crossply tyres supplied in this size anymore.
  • In 1960 they changed to 640 - 15 Tyres of which the 640 H 15 Dunlop RS5 is the best TA21 crossply tyre.
  • Alternatively we would suggest a 185 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 as an alternative radial TA21 tyre.
  • The TA21 was released on tube-type wheels, making innertubes mandatory for all models with original wheels. For these tyres the Michelin 15F would be the best Alvis TA21 innertube.

History of the Alvis TA 21

The Alvis TA21 is a car manufactured by Alvis Cars between 1950 and 1953. It was first shown to the British public on March 16, 1950, at the opening of the Geneva Motor Show. The new 2993 cc engine generated 83 horsepower and was equipped with a single Solex carburettor with a compression ratio of 7.0:1. To improve smoothness, the engine had timing gears at the rear of the cylinder block and a 7-bearing crank. This was the first look at the engine that would power Alvis cars until the manufacturer ceased passenger car production in 1967. Modifications, such as increased compression ratios would become available when branded petrol returned to the market and higher octane fuels were offered, allowing the power output to be gradually increased after 1953 until, fed by three SU carburetters, it finally reached 150 bhp in 1965.
