Alpha Romeo Spider S3
Alfa Romeo S3 S4 Spider 1982–1993
- By 1983, with the introduction of the Series 3 Spider, Alfa Romeo followed fashion and moved to wider 6” wheels and low profile tyres.
- The Alfa Romeo Series 3 Spider 2000 fitted 185/70 VR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN36 as OE, and they are by far the best tyre today.
- For more information about the CN36, look at this back-to-back classic tyre test.
- By the 1980s, Alfa Romeo had stopped fitting inner tubes. However, if you want to fit a tube in a 185/70R14, the Michelin 14E innertube is the best.
- The series 3 Quadrifoglio Verde model introduced in 1986 fitted 15” wheels for which we recommend the 195/60 VR 15 Michelin Primacy 3.
- The last run of the super little rear wheel drive sports car, the Alfa Romeo Spider series 4 from 1990 to 1993, continued to offer either of the above 14” or 15” wheel options with the same tyres.
- Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 tyres on 15” wheels and 60% profile tyres should not fit innertubes.
History of the Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 S3/S4
The final iterations of the Alfa Romeo Spider made between 1982 and 1993 were once again styled by Pininfarina for this last outing. Externally, it featured smoother bumpers and slimmer rear lights, while internally, it was upgraded with fuel-injected engines and power-assisted steering.
