1955 AC 2 Litre Tyres

1955 AC 2 Litre

AC 2-Litre 1947–1956

  • We recommend the 5.25/5.50 x 17 Lucas as the ideal AC 2 Litre tyres for models made before 1950, for models made after 1950 we instead suggest the 670 R 16 Avon Turbosteel.
  • The ideal choice of innertube for the early AC 2L is Michelin 17/18E RET, and on the later 2L with 16" wheels the best innertube is the Michelin 16F innertube.
  • We suggest the AC 2 Litre tyre pressure to be 22psi for the front and 27psi for the rear.

History of the AC 2-litre

After WW2 AC returned to building its high quality but low volume production cars with the AC 2-litre saloon.  After 1953, the vehicle was upgraded to a 4-door, with the engine increased to 85bhp from the previous 74bhp and the cable rear brakes replaced with a hydraulic system. The Motor magazine evaluated a 2-door saloon version of the 2-litre in 1948. It had an 80 mph top speed and a 0-60 mph time of 19.9 seconds. The AC 2-litre's engine outlasted it, and it was utilised in later AC models until 1963.
