Vauxhall 14-40 Tyres

  • Longstone's recommendation for the Vauxhall 14-40 is the 5.25 x 21 Lucas.
  • The 5.25 x 21 Firestone is another great option for this lovely vintage car.
  • The 13-40 fitted tube-type wheels throughout production. Innertubes are required for these wheels.
  • For these tyres the Michelin 19/20H innertube offers the best fit.

History of the Vauxhall 14-40

The Vauxhall 14 is a car manufactured by Vauxhall between 1922 and 1927. In addition to manufacturing in the United Kingdom, knock-down kits were built in Australia. The automobile was first displayed at the London Motor Show in 1921, and it was released to the public in 1922.

Clarence King's new automobile had a four-cylinder 2297cc side-valve engine positioned in-unit with a three-speed gearbox. The separate chassis was equipped with semi-elliptic leaf springs in the front and cantilever springs in the back. Brakes were exclusively applied to the back wheels, with separate pads for the handbrake. Disc wheels were installed. The automobile was reported to have a top speed of nearly 60 mph and a fuel economy of 28 mpg.
