Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 2 Tyres
Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Tyres Explained
- The early Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 1 fitted 8.15-15 Crossply or 205R15 radial tyres. We suggest the 205 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO â„¢ CN72 is the best.
- The Silver Shadow 1 from 1973 and the Silver Shadow 2 had wider wheel arches and fitted 235/70R15 tyres.
- The asymmetric carcass and tread pattern of the Michelin 235/70HR15 XVS dramatically improves the handling of these Rolls Royce Silver Shadows.
- Although period fitting manuals and Rolls Royce both indicate that Silver Shadow wheels are tubeless, these wheels lack the safety beads that are typical of a 'genuine' tubeless wheel by current standards. We recommend that you install innertubes on these wheels.
- We suggest the Michelin 15/17H innertube for these tyres.
- Michelins period suggested tyre pressure for the Silver Shadow is 24psi front and 28psi rear. However, their high-speed recommendation, which we think is more suited to modern roads is 29psi front and 32psi rear.
- There are a lot of different opinions with regard to Silver Shadow tyre pressures. We would suggest the lower pressures are for comfort in a chauffeur driven Shadow, where the higher pressures give better directional stability on motorways.
Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 2 Whitewall Tyres
We have a variety of whitewall tyres in the size 235/70R15, in this size we would suggest the 235/70x15 Michelin XVS Whitewall as the best white wall tyre in this size.
