Honda-Z Tyres

  • For Honda Z tyres a set of 145 SR 10 Dunlop SP Sport Aquajet is recommended by Longstone Tyres.
  • Our period fitment guides suggest that the Z was released on tube-type wheels, innertubes are required if the wheels are original equipment.
  • The 10" Offset innertube is the best fitting tube for this tyre.

History of the Honda Z

Built between 1970-1972 the Honda Z (also known as the Honda Z600) was another city car/kei car that was similar to the Honda N360 and N600, with the Z denoting its sporty build. It was front-wheel drive, with an air-cooled engine and either a 4 or 5-speed transmission. The front suspension was coil sprung and independent, while the rear suspension was leaf springs on a beam axle. The cabin was designed to fit two adults, with a relatively small back seat. A rear glass door with black plastic surrounds opened to reveal a small cargo space. A compartment beneath the cargo area, accessible by a cover behind the number plate, stored the spare wheel and tools.

Later variants, following a November 1972 redesign, removed the additional lid and relocated the licence plate to the place it had previously occupied. These also got the new EA 356 cc engine, which is now only available in a more powerful, 36 horsepower variant. After the new Civic appeared and the oil crisis reduced the demand for "fun" vehicles, production halted in 1974.
