- The Ferrari 308 GTB (including the early fibre glass VETRORESINA 308 GTB) fitted 205/70VR14 Michelin XWX.
- In period Michelin suggested 28psi front and 35psi rear for the 308GTB.
- The other 14” option would be the 205/70 WR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 (But the Michelin XWX was original equipment).
- The Ferrari 308 doesn't actually date back to the time when Ferrari used to equip its vehicles with wire wheels, but the option is available for those who want the retro appearance. See below for Borrani Wire Wheels.
- The GTB was released on tubeless wheels, but if you want innertubes for the above tyres then the Michelin 14F will be the best option. If you have wire wheels then innertubes are required.
- The later 308 GTB injection models fitted 220/55 WR 390 Michelin TRX. If you have TRX wheels you must fit TRX tyres.
- Tyres with a profile below 70% (e.g 220/55 WR 390 Michelin TRX) should not fit innertubes.
- The 308 GTS had a 16” wheel option, we suggest 205/55YR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 (33psi) & on the rear 225/50 YR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 (33psi).
- The 308 GTB had a 16” wheel option, with 205/55YR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO (33psi) & on the rear 225/50 YR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 (33psi).
- From 1984, the 16” tyre was the Goodyear gator back. However it is no longer made, and the Pirelli P7 was and still is the tyre of preference.

History of the Ferrari 308 GTB
The Ferrari 308 GTB Berlinetta is a two-seater V8 mid-engined sports automobile produced by Ferrari from 1975 until 1985. The engine was a 90-degree V8 with two belt-driven overhead camshafts per cylinder bank. It was installed transversely in the unit with the transaxle transmission assembly, which was located below and to the rear of the engine's sump. A complete synchromesh 5-speed "dog-leg" manual gearbox and a clutch-type limited-slip differential were included on all versions. The suspension was all-independent, with double wishbones, coaxial coil springs, and hydraulic dampers. It had anti-roll bars on both axles, as well as four-wheel vented disc brakes. Steering was accomplished through the use of an unassisted rack and pinion system.
The body of the 308 was designed by Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti, who had previously created some of Ferrari's most iconic models, including the Daytona, Dino, and Berlinetta Boxer. The 308 used parts of these forms to produce something extremely different from the angular Bertone-designed GT4. When not in use, GTS models included a detachable roof panel with a grained matte black surface that could be stowed in a vinyl cover behind the seats. The early 308 GTB was remarkable in that while being constructed by Carrozzeria Scaglietti, its bodywork was completely composed of glass-reinforced plastic (or GRP), allowing for an extremely light weight of 1,050 kg. This lasted until June 1977, when the 308 was converted to steel bodies, resulting in a 150 kg increase in weight.
