Alfa Romeo 1900 Tyres

  • The original equipment Alfa Romeo 1900 tyres fitted were 6.00-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA tyres.
  • The Alfa Romeo 1900 fitted tube-type wheels throughout production and therefore require innertubes.
  • The earlier Alfa 1900 with 16” tyres would be best fitted with Michelin 16F RET innertubes.
  • Alfa Romeo soon took advantage of radial tyre technology, fitting 165HR400 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 tyres, which we credit as the best option.
  • For Alfa Romeo 1900 innertubes 165-400 Tyres should be fitted with Michelin 16E tubes.

History of the Alfa Romeo 1900

The Alfa Romeo 1900 is a sports saloon developed in 1950 by Orazio Satta for Alfa Romeo. It was Alfa Romeo's first automobile constructed fully on a manufacturing line, as well as the company's first production car without a separate chassis.

The 1900 was available in two-door or four-door configurations, with a new 1884 cc, 90 horsepower, four-cylinder dual cam engine. The 1900 was roomy and uncomplicated, yet fast and athletic. Alfa's sales tagline was "The family car that wins races," a reference to the car's success in the Targa Florio, Stella Alpina, and other events.

Alpha debuted the 1900C with a short wheelbase in 1951. This vehicle had a 2,500 mm wheelbase. The 1900 TI, with a more powerful 100 horsepower engine, was also released the same year. It had larger valves, a greater compression ratio, and a dual carburettor. Two years later, the 1900 Super and 1900 TI Super with a 1975 cc engine were launched. The TI Super featured two twin carburettors and produced 115 horsepower. The transmission was a 4-speed manual on basic models and a 5-speed manual on Super Sprint models, and the braking was drum brakes. The 1900 sports a live rear axle and independent front suspension with double wishbones, coil springs, and hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers.

Production lasted until 1959, with a total of 21,304 units produced. The chassis was expressly intended to allow coachbuilders to rebody it, with the most prominent example being the Zagato-designed 1900 Super Sprint Coupe, which had an upgraded engine and unique body design.
