The Alfa Romeo Montreal fitted a 195/70VR14 tyre. Vredestein are the only people making a tyre in this size with the correct speed rating.

In 1983 Alfa Romeo Frankfurt specified 200/70 VR14 and 205/70VR14 tyre as admissible after-market replacements for the 195/70VR14 ones. In this instance the tyre to have would be the 205/70VR14 Michelin XWX which offers the same tread pattern as the car originally fitted.

The classic Alfa Romeo Montreal was designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone,the Alfa Romeo Montreal was introduced as a concept car in 1967 at the universal exhibition in Montreal. A car for the future, Alfa Romeo wanted the Montreal to be ahead of technological progress of the time. The production of the classic Alfa Romeo Montreal was initiated in 1970. The end result was a car of outstanding class offering competition level performance with an engine derived from the Tipo 33 sports prototype race car. It eventually rolled out of the Alfa Romeo factory in December of 1971.

The classic Alfa Romeo Montreal featured a V8, which was very similar to the one found in the Alfa Romeo type 33 and a top speed of 130mph. The chassis was from the classic Alfa romeo 1750, the Alfa Romeo Montreal also possesed a 5 speed gearbox and ventilated disc brakes, which it needed to stop the roaring V8.

The Alfa Romeo Montreal is very important in the history of classic Alfa Romeo's as it is the only post war car equipped with a V8 that was almost exclusive to competition. There were only 3,917 Alfa Romeo Montreal's produced between 1971 and 1975 and amazingly this classic Alfa Romeo was never exported to the United States.
